Introducing the Phoenix Magic Club Lending Library!
Over the years, the Phoenix Magic Club has accumulated a wonderful collection of donated magic books — everything from tricks and techniques to theory, history, mentalism, and more. Rather than let them sit in boxes, we’re putting them into the hands of our members!
We’re launching the Phoenix Magic Club Lending Library, available to all paid club members.
Since we don’t have a clubhouse with room for shelves full of books, our library works a little differently. The collection will be distributed among club officers and members, while our Club Librarian keeps track of where every book is.
Want to borrow something? Browse the library catalog on our website and request the book you’d like. If it’s being stored by one of our officers, they’ll bring it to the next meeting for you. If another member already has it, they’ll be asked to bring it to an upcoming meeting once they’ve had it for at least a month.
There are no arbitrary due dates. If nobody else is waiting for your book, keep it and enjoy it! When another member requests it, we’ll let you know and arrange for you to bring it to a meeting so it can continue its journey.
The idea is simple: the books don’t need a permanent home — we just need to know where they are.
Soon you can browse the Lending Library catalog and start exploring some of the great magic that’s been sitting in those boxes!
The Lending Library is for paid Phoenix Magic Club members. You must be a current member to borrow books.
Request books through the Club Librarian. Browse the online catalog and submit a request for any book you’d like to borrow.
Books are exchanged at club meetings. The Librarian will coordinate with the current holder to have requested books brought to an upcoming meeting.
You are guaranteed at least one month with a book. If another member requests it during your first month, you won’t be expected to return it until that month is up.
There are no regular due dates. If nobody else has requested your book, you’re welcome to keep it as long as you’d like.
When a book is requested, please bring it to the designated meeting. The Librarian will let you know when someone is waiting for it and arrange the handoff.
Don’t pass a library book to another member on your own. All transfers need to go through the Librarian so we always know where each book is.
Take reasonable care of the books. Many are older, donated, or difficult to replace. Please don’t write in them, highlight them, or otherwise alter them.
If a book is lost or damaged, let the Librarian know. Accidents happen; we mainly need to know what happened to the book and determine whether it needs to be replaced.
The Librarian must always know where the book is. Our library doesn’t have a building or even a bookshelf. Books may be stored by officers or circulating among members — they don’t need a permanent home; we just need to know where they are.
